Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

Oasis Lanz Club, Lanzarote

The resort we are staying on, Oasis Lanz Club, is in Costa Teguise close to the island’s capital, Arrecife and seems to be a perfect base from which to explore the island, being quite centrally positioned.

There are five beaches within walking distance and the sea front promenade is beautiful to walk along watching the various water activities that take place, I don’t know where those windsurfers get their energy from, I am just here to relax and unwind!

The sand is a beautiful colour and at Playa las Cucharas the beach slopes gently into the water making it quite safe for families with young children.  One of the beaches heading in the direction of Arrecife, I think it is Playa Bastian has been lovely man made shelters along the edge to shelter you from the winds, it looks really nice and I am sure, very effective, although we haven’t tried it yet!

There are plenty of places to eat or enjoy a quiet drink with a variety of cuisines, we have noticed the inevitable Chinese buffets, Belgian, Italian, Fish places and of course Spanish Tapas with some great home made dishes.  For those that enjoy the more ‘traditional’ meals, you can get the ‘full English breakfast’ starting at 2 Euro at many places, but seriously, why would you?

In the evening there is often live entertainment in the bandstand in the square, but we have headed down to a beautiful bar called La Vida, which has live music every night of the week, with different themes each night.  The warm welcome and terrific atmosphere just makes you want to stay all night!

OK, well we are off out exploring a little further afield today so, more photos to come later.
