Good to make people think before they take the plunge, Stephen. You would be surprised how many people we ship back to the UK not long after we have brought all their goods in. It always seems like such a shame. If the move were better researched they might either reconsider and save a lot of expense (money that could be spent on nice long holidays), or it might work out better for them.

Excellent, thought-provoking stuff, Stephen. I agree that Tenerife Lifeline is an essential purchase for anyone thinking of moving here, I only wish we’d had it, it would have saved a lot of stress and time.

My advice would be to rent first to see if you like the area/location and take your time looking for the right place to buy – if indeed you are buying.

Once everything’s been considered – I’d say make the move, I don’t know anyone who’s regretted it.

Really sound and sensible advice, Stephen and invaluable to anyone thinking of making the move.

There are a million and one things that people don’t always think about before moving. For me it included little things even like getting my hair cut in Spanish.

I’m looking forward to part two
